STEM Summer Reading for Middle School to High School

Looking for summer reading ideas for middle school or high school students? Want to keep them engaged in STEM? HERO FOR THE HUNGRY and the following hands-on project-based learning ideas are the perfect way to keep students excited about learning through the summer!

After reading Hero for the Hungry here are some fun interactive activities to follow up that students can do with a group of friends, or at home.

• Purple Plow Puzzler - 1 hour STEM project on Food Waste
• Wheat Germ DNA extraction or Wheat Germ DNA lesson
• Grassland and Biome – 1 hour STEM project that has students build a model of a grassland biome
  
• Save the Soil - Extended STEM learning challenge about soil erosion.
